Crown of the Sea

 "Live Where Living is
Worth While"
- 1937 Ad for Land in CdM

A 1937 ad directing buyers to the tract office to purchase land in Corona del Mar proclaimed it "A Most Distinguished Setting for People Seeking the Most Unusual and Delightful Location for a Beach Home."  While there have been many changes in the 80 years since this ad appeared, there is no doubt that this description still holds true today.

The 'Distinguished setting' has attracted considerable development and large lot lines homes have replaced many of the cottages.   While the landscape of our city evolves, we aim to build awareness and celebrate the history that remains today.  From the Goldenrod Footbridge, to the beautiful 1914 house on Dahlia Avenue and 'Big Spanish' on the corner of Ocean and Poppy, history still remains all around us.   We hope by building awareness of  the history behind these remarkable reminders of our past, we can build an appreciation, value, and pride in them that encourages preservation.
